Who we are & what we do
We are scholars with interdisciplinary interests in music and disability studies. Don’t know what Disability Studies is, or what it could possibly have to do with music? Blake Howe’s Primer is a great place to start.
We pursue many scholarly initiatives, including conference papers and panels, articles, and books. We also advocate for inclusion and accessibility for scholars, particularly within our professional organizations. Finally, we advocate for the inclusion of all students, regardless of bodymind and diagnosis, and work on designing our pedagogy and teaching in flexible and inclusive ways, so that all students feel welcome and flourish, and so that fewer “retrofit” accommodations need to be implemented for their optimal learning.
This site features announcements about forthcoming publications and conference activities, and also features blog posts on topics of interest to music and disability studies. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.
